Overview

In May 2025, Tidam became a co-organizer of the first Islamic Finance and Business Forum at the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC). The forum became an important platform for dialogue among financial institutions, businesses, and experts, focusing on the potential of the Islamic economy for sustainable development in Kazakhstan and the region.

How We Worked

• Strategic Co-Organization

We didn’t just support the forum’s organization; we became a value-driven partner in the project. Together with the Association of Islamic Finance and Business (AIFB) and the AIFC, we helped shape the concept of the event.

• Agenda Development

The forum became a space for discussing real business models, social responsibility tools, and the role of Islamic finance in ESG strategies.

• Audience Engagement

We facilitated communication with key market participants, ensuring that over 200 guests from the CIS, Central Asia, and Africa attended the forum.

• Facilitating Partnerships

At the forum, four key memorandums of understanding (MOUs) were signed between leading players in the Islamic market:

AIFC and Silk Way Alem (Nigeria - Kazakhstan): Developing Islamic financing between Central Asia and Africa.
International Trading System and Zakat Fund: Joint educational and social initiatives.
AIFB and the Association of Islamic Developers of Kazakhstan: Implementing Islamic finance in the construction sector.
AIFB and Compliance Hub: Developing a compliance culture within the Islamic financial system.

• Support for Women’s Leadership

Together with Cambridge IFA, we organized the first-ever WOMANi awards ceremony in the region, recognizing the contributions of women in the development of Islamic finance.

Results

Four strategic memorandums were signed.
Dialogue between Central Asia and Africa on Islamic finance was launched.
The role of the Islamic economy was showcased as part of the global ESG movement.
Kazakhstan's position as a future hub for Islamic economics in Eurasia was strengthened.
The theme of women’s leadership in Islamic business was supported.

Objective

Our goal was to help organize the first Islamic economy forum in Kazakhstan, bring together diverse audiences, and demonstrate that Islamic finance is not a niche market, but rather part of the global trend towards ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance), ethics, and sustainability.
